Bologna Airport

Also referred to as the Guglielmo Marconi Airport, Bologna Airport is one of the most important airports in Italy today. It is located in the Bologna city and has for a long time served this place. It is also worth noting that is located just within the Suburbs of the city and approximately 6 kilometers from the city. From such a distance, you can agree with me that the city center is much more accessible from here in the airport. It is again located about 200 kilometers on the south eastern side of Milan, Italy.

Why the name Bologna Airport? Probably that is a question that is lingering in your mind at this moment. Well, this airport was named after one Bologna native known by the name Guglielmo Marconi. This man was a prominent electrical engineer and at one time he received the Nobel Laureate peace prize. If at all you know of any busy airport in Italy in the modern day, this one must definitely be part of that list. It is ranked as the 8th busiest in the Italian speaking nation.

Ever since its inception, it has been able to really grow a great deal. This growth can be attributed to a variety of elements and not just limited to increase in passenger numbers. The number of airlines that run flight operations at Bologna Airport today has been on the increase. This has in fact been the trend since the inception of Bologna airport. In the year 2011 for instance, 5, 885,884 passengers passed through this airport. This was an increase as compared to the previous. The sums are expected to add up in the coming couple of years.

It does not just serve the locals alone but rather the whole of the universe. The ever increasing number of airlines operating in this airport has opened up more avenues for Bologna to connect to the rest of the world. In fact, the locals here view Bologna airport as the major link or gateway that connects them to the rest of the unseen world. The number of international and domestic passengers both has been on the increase since the inception. This is attributed to the opening up of more international destinations.

As I had stated earlier, there are many airlines running flight operations at Bologna airport. The numbers are still expected to rise in the coming days. There are even some airlines which have made this airport as their major hub of operations in Italy today. Some of the most prominent airlines that operate here include Aer Lingus, Aeroflot, Air Moldova, Air France, Air Arabia Maroc, Alitalia, Alitalia CityLiner, Belle Air, British Airways, Blue Air, Blue1, B&H Airlines, Germanwings, EasyJet, Carpatiar and Brussels Airlines among many others. The list is just endless. In fact, this is among one of the largest airports in this place in terms of the number of airlines that operate here.

Many people love to come to Italy mainly because of its tourism relevance. Italy holds a rich history that dates back even before they were colonized by the Spanish. The Bologna city is littered with historical buildings and monuments. If at all you are the kind that loves to sample the many good things that nature has got to offer, this is again the kind of place that you need to come to. The people are also very welcoming and friendly. Basically, you will love everything about this place.

It might be also worth to note that Bologna Airport also runs chartered flight services. These services are offered by selected airlines for example Tunisair, Neos, Alitalia, Nesma Airlines, Ukraine Airlines, Nouvelair, Blue Panorama Airlines and a couple others. Basically, when you come to Italy at any time in the year, you can rest assured that you will get nothing short of the best services.
